Motorhome Habitation Check
A Habitation check is an inspection of the living area of your motorhome, caravan or leisure vehicle.
Habitation checks are carried out to make sure everything is safe and to identify issues early on. Think of it as an MOT for your living area.
A Habitation Check includes the following:

Full Gas check

LPG system checked in accordance with Gas Safe

The Gas supply system will be checked for leaks or signs of malfunctioning.

All gas appliances like heating systems, gas burner, fridge and boiler are checked they are functioning correctly and without any gas leaks.

The condition of regulator and connecting hose are checked.

Any gas leaks will be addressed at the time of service. This may require disconnection of gas appliance and a further appointment may be required.

Electrical Checks

Full RCD electrical test on your motorhome or caravan.

MCB’s and fuses are checked.
-
All lights, sockets, plugs, wiring, cables, batteries, fridges, and other electrical appliances are all checked.

Other electrical systems like sockets and miniature circuit breakers are also checked.

Earthing bond checked.
-
Check hook-up cable, plug and socket condition.

Fire Safety
-
Fire alarms and CO alarms are tested and checked.
-
Fire extinguishers and/or fire blankets checked they are within date and securely fitted.

Interior/Damp Test
-
Full Damp Check, checking for any water ingress.
-
Poor ventilation can lead to damp issues; therefore, all fixed vents will be checked.

Operation and condition of windows, roof lights and locker catches​ are checked.

Blinds and fly screens are checked to ensure they are working correctly.

Floor checked for delamination.

Exterior
-
Check all seals and trims​.
-
Check lockers and hatches.
-
Check grab handles are secure.
-
Check aerial fittings and any other external fittings.

Water & Plumbing System
-
Operation of taps and shower controls checked, whilst checking pressure and for leaks.

Ensure no water leaks within your motorhome or caravan.

Change water filter if required/requested.

Service toilet flush and valve seal, checking for no leaks or blockages.
Full Caravan Service
Caravan Service includes all the check included with the Motorhome Habitation Check plus the following:

Chassis and Running Gear

Checking the operation (and lubricate if required) of the handbrake, the hitch and towing mechanism, the overrun operation, brake linkages and corner steadies.

Condition of Jockey wheel is checked.
-
Stabiliser pads are cleaned and checked.
-
Breakaway cable checked,
-
Check wear and tear, age, and pressure of tyres.

Removal of hubs – bearings and brake shoes are checked. Brakes are adjusted and new one-shot nuts are fitted.

Wheels are torqued to manufacturers settings. The final torque is witnesses by yourself on the handover of the caravan.
Caravan Chassis Service

I will check all the appliances are running correctly and safely on electricity and gas. I will also check there are no damp issues in the the Caravan or Motorhome you are considering buying.

I will also make sure the chassis and brakes are in good working condition on any potential caravan purchase.
